Terms of Use
Last updated: June 2026 · Total Circumstance AI
Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using Total Circumstance AI. By accessing or using this service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use this service.
Section 1
What This Tool Is — and What It Is Not
Total Circumstance AI is a professional development and narrative review tool designed to help law enforcement officers improve the quality of their written reports. It evaluates officer-written narratives against a fixed rubric and provides feedback on probable cause articulation, narrative clarity, and legal sufficiency.
This tool does not constitute legal advice. Nothing produced by Total Circumstance AI — including scores, gap assessments, defense challenge previews, statute references, or any other output — should be interpreted as legal advice, legal opinion, or a determination of legal sufficiency for any purpose.
Specifically, Total Circumstance AI is not:
- A substitute for consultation with legal counsel
- A certification that any narrative meets the legal standard for probable cause
- A guarantee that any report will withstand a suppression hearing or other legal challenge
- A determination of whether an arrest, search, or seizure was lawful
- A replacement for supervisory review or agency policy compliance
Section 2
Officer Responsibility — You Are the Author
The officer who writes the narrative retains full professional and legal responsibility for the content, accuracy, and completeness of every report they file. Total Circumstance AI reviews what you write — it does not write reports for you, and it does not assume or share responsibility for reports you submit.
Using this tool does not transfer, reduce, or alter any professional duty, obligation, or liability that attaches to the officer who authored and filed the report.
Important: A high score from Total Circumstance AI does not mean a report is legally sufficient. A low score does not mean it is legally deficient. Scores reflect the articulation of facts in the narrative as measured against a fixed rubric — not a legal determination of any kind.
Officers must continue to:
- Apply their own training, experience, and professional judgment to every report
- Comply with all applicable agency policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
- Seek supervisory review as required by their department
- Consult legal counsel when uncertain about the legal sufficiency of any action or report
Section 3
Scores Are for Development Only — Not for Legal Reliance
The scoring produced by Total Circumstance AI is intended solely as a professional development tool to help officers identify areas where their narrative articulation can be strengthened. Scores are generated by an AI model evaluating text against predefined criteria and do not constitute:
- A legal opinion on the sufficiency of probable cause
- A determination that evidence will be admissible in court
- A certification suitable for use in any legal proceeding
- Documentation that should be disclosed in discovery or litigation
Do not attach, reference, or disclose Total Circumstance AI analyses in any legal proceeding, discovery response, or official agency documentation without first consulting legal counsel regarding the appropriateness of doing so.
Section 4
Defense Challenge Preview — Intended Use
The Defense Challenge Preview feature identifies potential vulnerabilities in a narrative that a defense attorney might raise. This feature is provided to help officers strengthen their reports before filing — not as a legal strategy tool or a prediction of how any specific case will proceed.
The Defense Challenge Preview:
- Is generated by an AI model and may not reflect all challenges a defense attorney would raise
- Does not constitute legal advice or litigation strategy
- Should not be treated as an exhaustive assessment of legal vulnerabilities
- Is intended to prompt officers to consider whether their articulation is complete before filing
Section 5
Statute References — Always Independently Verify
Total Circumstance AI uses web search to attempt to verify applicable statutes against official legal sources at the time of analysis. However:
- Laws change — statute information may be outdated at the time of your analysis
- Search results may not always return accurate or current information
- The tool may not identify all applicable statutes for a given situation
- Statute references are provided for reference only and do not constitute legal advice
Always independently verify any statute before including it in a report or charging document. Never rely solely on this tool for statutory accuracy.
Section 6
Narrative Content — What You Submit
Narratives submitted to Total Circumstance AI are processed by AI models to generate analysis. By using this service, you acknowledge and agree that:
- You are responsible for ensuring that any narrative you submit complies with your agency's data handling, confidentiality, and information security policies
- You should not submit narratives containing personally identifiable information beyond what is necessary for the review
- You should consult your agency's legal counsel or information security officer before using this service if your agency has policies governing the submission of case-related information to third-party services
- CJIS compliance requirements may apply depending on the nature of the information submitted and your agency's configuration
Agency users: If you are using this service as part of an agency deployment, consult your agency's legal counsel and information security officer regarding applicable data handling requirements before use.
Section 7

Total Circumstance AI is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Results will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose

Use of this service is at your own professional discretion and risk.
